The Jan 2013 issue of Blueprint magazine featured the unique, solid Carrara marble staircase designed by artist designer Mark Humphrey which was installed in London’s new St James Theatre in August 2012.
Mark Humphrey’s serpentine ‘Final encore’, a 4.1m high public staircase may weigh only 25-tonnes, but it was carved from a 200-tonne block of Tuscan Carrara marble, the same material Michelangelo used for his David statue. (The left over marble did find other uses!).
